Kong Lah privacy policy
This privacy policy applies to the Kong Lah app (package name com.konglah.app), published by Goodshore LLC (“Goodshore”, “we”, “us”).
The short version
- Kong Lah has no sign-up and no account. The phrasebook, the audio and your own recordings live on your device and work offline.
- We do not run servers that receive your phrases, recordings or usage.
- The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Optional phrase packs are sold through Google Play, and RevenueCat manages those purchases. These services receive limited device and purchase information, as described below.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Information stored only on your device
The app saves the following on your device. None of it is sent to us.
- your chosen language, voice and display settings
- your favourite phrases and recently played phrases
- phrases you write yourself and the voice recordings you make for them
- feedback you are drafting in the app (flagged phrases and phrase suggestions)
- which phrase packs you have unlocked
This information is deleted when you delete it in the app, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app.
Microphone
Kong Lah asks for microphone access only when you choose to record one of your own phrases. The recording is saved on your device and is never uploaded, shared or analysed. The app does not listen at any other time and does no speech recognition.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of Kong Lah shows banner and full-screen ads served by Google AdMob. To serve, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect:
- device identifiers, including your device’s advertising ID
- your IP address and the approximate location derived from it
- device and app information, such as model, operating system and app version
- how you interact with ads
Consent. Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app uses Google’s User Messaging Platform to ask for your consent before showing personalised ads. If you do not consent, the app requests only non-personalised ads. Ads in Kong Lah are limited to content rated suitable for general audiences.
Your choices. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings › Privacy › Ads (the exact path varies by device). Google explains how it uses this information in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in the Google Privacy Policy.
Purchases (Google Play and RevenueCat)
You pay for phrase packs through Google Play. Google processes your payment; we never see your card or payment details. Google’s handling of purchase information is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and to restore them on a new device. RevenueCat receives:
- the purchase receipt from Google Play
- a random, anonymous app user ID that the app generates
- basic device and app information, such as operating system, app version and store country
RevenueCat does not receive your name or email address. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Feedback you choose to send
In Kong Lah you can flag a phrase that sounds wrong, or suggest a phrase that is missing. This stays on your device until you choose to send it.
When you tap send, the app opens your own email app with a pre-filled message for you to review. The message contains the flagged phrase IDs, your suggestions and the app version.
If you send it, we receive your email address and the message. We use them only to reply and to improve the phrasebook, and we delete them on request.
Emergency numbers
The emergency screen opens your phone’s dialler with the local emergency number. The app does not place, record or monitor calls.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for any purpose beyond those described above. Only two third parties receive information from the app, each under its own privacy policy:
- Google, for ads, payments and app distribution
- RevenueCat, for purchase validation
Retention and deletion
Data on your device stays there until you delete it or uninstall the app. Google and RevenueCat keep the information they collect according to their own policies. For step-by-step deletion instructions, and to ask us to delete information such as feedback emails, see Delete your Kong Lah data.
Children
Kong Lah is a tool for adult caregivers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port personal information about you, and to object to or restrict its use. These rights exist, for example, under the EU and UK GDPR and California law.
Because we hold almost nothing, the deletion steps above cover most requests. For anything else, email contact@goodshorellc.com and we will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
International transfers
Goodshore LLC is based in the United States. Google and RevenueCat may process information in the United States and other countries, with the safeguards that applicable law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. We will also note significant changes in the app’s release notes.
